Set up & link KidSafe in 3 steps

Install the app and create a link code on your phone, then install KidSafe on your child's device — a Windows PC or an Android phone — and enter the code. Or link by your parent account instead.

1Step 1

Install the app on your phone

Get the app onelink.to/u3knat — detects Android / iPhone
Or search the store: Android “KidSafe Admin” · iPhone “Ks Admin”.

  1. 1Open the app → Sign up / Sign in with your phone number.
  2. 2Turn on notifications for the app — needed for the parent-account option below.
No account? Tap “Create account”
Sign up: enter phone + set a password
Sign in with your phone
2Step 2

Create a link code on your phone

Do this on the phone first, before you touch the computer — you'll get a 6-character code to enter during install.

Your first computer

On the empty screen “You haven't linked a computer yet”, tap Connect now.

Adding another computer

Already linked one? Go to Account → Add device to link one more — each computer gets its own code.

  1. 1Open the flow above. If asked for a device type, pick New device.
  2. 2Pick an existing child — or tap Add new child profile and enter the child's name. Then give the computer a nickname (e.g. Bedroom PC).
  3. 3Tap Create link code → a 6-character code appears.
XXXXXX
The code lives 24 hours and works once — you can create it now and install on the device later.
“You haven't linked a computer” + Connect now
① Tap the device picker → ② tap + to add a device
Pick child profile + set device name
“Device link code” (6-char code)
3Step 3

Install on your child's Windows PC & enter the code

Download for Windows download.kidsafe.com.vn/KidSafeAgentSetup.exe
Open the file — the first dialog lets you choose language & country:

Default is English + Vietnam. Choosing Tiếng Việt auto-selects Vietnam. Click Install → and wait for “Installation successful!” → click Close.

  1. 1The KidSafe tray icon (bottom-right) opens the “Link Device” window → choose Enter link code.
  2. 2Type the 6-character code from Step 2 into “Link code:” → click Link. Done ✓
Don't confuse: the “Migrate from old device / Enter License code” option uses a license key (to move a paid device) — different from the 6-character link code from Step 2.
Enter your 6-character code → Link
3Step 3 — Android instead

Install on your child's Android phone & enter the code

Get it on Google Play play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kidsafe.kidagent
Or search the Play Store for “KidSafe Agent”. Careful: KidSafe Admin is the parent app from Step 1 — it goes on your phone, not your child's. Android 8.0 or newer.
  1. 1Install and open KidSafe Agent on your child's phone.
  2. 2Type the 6-character code from Step 2 → tap Link. Same code as for a PC.
  3. 3The app then walks you through the permissions it needs (below). It won't finish until the required ones are granted.

Permissions Android asks for. Each one switches on a specific protection — grant them on the child's phone, in the order the app offers them. The screen shows what is still missing and refreshes by itself when you come back from Settings.

  1. 1Accessibility — lets the app see which app is open and which address the browser is on. Without it, app blocking and web blocking do nothing.
  2. 2Usage access — measures how long each app is used. Needed for time limits.
  3. 3Display over other apps — draws the lock screen and the “blocked” notice on top.
  4. 4Unrestricted battery — stops Android from putting the agent to sleep, which would silently switch protection off.
  5. 5Device admin — protection against removal: you get a warning the moment someone tries to uninstall.
  6. 6VPN connection — the second layer of web filtering, for browsers that hide the address. Optional, recommended.
  7. 7Location, including in the background — only if you want live location and safe zones. Skip it and everything else still works.
  8. 8Notifications and start at boot — so the agent comes back after every restart.
Xiaomi, Redmi, OPPO, realme, vivo, Huawei, honor: these brands close background apps on their own. The app opens the right settings screen for your brand and asks you to turn on Autostart. Skip that step and the agent stops working after the phone is restarted — and nothing will tell you.

Two differences from a PC, so there are no surprises: an Android phone cannot take screenshots in the background — the system does not allow it — and instead of shutting down remotely, the phone locks. Location and safe zones are the other way round: Android only.

Outside the allowed hours: the phone locks, and shows how long until it opens

Daily limit used up: your child asks for more time, you approve from your phone

Opening a blocked app: a block screen appears, with the time it becomes available

Visiting a blocked site: stopped right there in your child’s browser

Alternative

Prefer not to type a code? Link by parent account

  1. 1You can skip Step 2. After installing, in the “Link Device” window choose Enter parent account.
  2. 2Enter the phone number you signed in with → click Send link request.
  3. 3On the phone, tap Accept on the “Connection request” notification. Done ✓

Requires the phone to be signed in with notifications turned on.

When needed

Reinstall & quick fixes

The computer was linked before — how do I reinstall?+

On the phone go to Account → pick the old device → Regenerate link code, then enter that code on the computer (Method A). Don't create a new device — reuse the old one to keep its schedule & settings.

The link code is expired or already used?+

Each code lives 24 hours and works once. Create a new code in the app and try again.

The phone isn't getting the connection notification (Method B)?+

Check the app is signed in to the right account and has notifications enabled, then tap Send link request again on the computer.

Reinstall says “tamper protection is active”?+

Open the KidSafe window → sign in with the parent passwordManagement tab → Disable protection, then reinstall.

Can I protect an iPhone or an iPad?+

Not yet. The child agent runs on Windows and Android 8.0+. An iPhone or iPad can only be used as the parent phone, with the KidSafe Admin app.

Does one licence cover both a PC and a phone?+

One licence covers one device, whichever kind it is. A PC and a phone are two devices, so two licences — at the same price each. You can add both to the same order.
